The North Shore-LIJ Health System is developing the Katz Women's Hospitals at LIJ Medical Center in New Hyde Park and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, which are the second- and third-busiest maternity programs in New York State. Together, the two hospitals deliver about 11,000 babies every year.

Both projects will become synonymous with service, comfort and elegance, ensuring that women are cared for in private rooms with numerous amenities to make their stays as pleasant as possible. At LIJ Medical Center, the Katz Women's Hospital will anchor a new eight-story bed tower that will be built in front of the existing hospital -- construction is scheduled to begin this summer. At North Shore, construction will begin this fall on a $40 million renovation project that will result in 75 single-bed maternity rooms, each designed to provide mothers, family members and visitors with the highest level of comfort. 

Whether women go to North Shore or LIJ to have their babies delivered, the Katz Women's Hospitals on both campuses will have the same look and feel, reflecting the hospitals' commitment to family-centered care that allows women and their family members to remain together during the birthing process.
